Michael Jordan's 1998 NBA Finals Game 2 jersey sells privately for $14 million

The Los Angeles Times reports that the Chicago Bulls jersey is believed to be the most expensive piece of basketball memorabilia ever sold. Only Babe Ruth's 1932 jersey has sold for more.

A Chicago Bulls jersey that Michael Jordan wore in Game 2 of the 1998 NBA Finals has sold in a private deal for $14 million, the Los Angeles Times reported on Oct. 12, 2026.

According to the Times, an auction house announced the sale on Monday. The price is believed to be the most anyone has ever paid for basketball memorabilia.

The buyer was Ron Firman, a real estate investor from Miami, the Times reported. The item is a red road jersey that Jordan wore in a game.

The sale continues a run of big prices for Jordan's gear from that series. The Los Angeles Times noted that three Jordan jerseys from the 1998 Finals have now each sold for more than $10 million.

Even so, the $14 million price falls short of the overall sports memorabilia record. That record belongs to Babe Ruth's 1932 jersey, which sold for $24.12 million, according to the Times.
