Five of Jeanie Buss' siblings have formally opposed her effort to block the sale of the Los Angeles Lakers, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The Times reported that Jimmy, Johnny, Janie, Joey and Jesse Buss filed the opposition on Wednesday. Jeanie Buss is the Lakers' team governor.
In a statement given to the Times, the siblings called Jeanie's petition "legally and factually baseless."
The siblings said talks among the family are still going on. They also said they are focused on moving the proposed transaction forward and on the Trust's role in it. In the statement, they said they want every beneficiary, Jeanie included, to be treated equally.
The Times' report doesn't give terms or a timeline for the proposed transaction, and it doesn't include a response from Jeanie Buss.
