Dodgers expect Miguel Rojas on NLCS roster after cortisone injection for back injury

Rojas left NLDS Game 3 with a back injury and didn't come off the bench in Game 4. Dave Roberts says the infielder is expected to be available for the NLCS.

The Los Angeles Dodgers expect to have Miguel Rojas on their NLCS roster. MLB Trade Rumors reported that manager Dave Roberts shared the update with reporters after the veteran infielder hurt his back in the NLDS.

Rojas came out of Game 3 of the Division Series with the back injury and wasn't available off the bench in Game 4. According to Roberts, a cortisone injection helped loosen up the area.

Rojas sat out Game 1 of the series. He started Game 2 against the Braves when a left-hander was on the mound, then started again in Game 3 against another lefty. He was removed partway through a plate appearance in the eighth inning of that game.

The Dodgers used Rojas mainly against left-handed pitching this season. MLB Trade Rumors noted that he had 162 plate appearances against southpaws and 90 against right-handers.

The split showed in his numbers. Rojas hit .293 with four home runs against lefties but managed only a .505 OPS in his limited chances against righties. If he's on the NLCS roster as expected, that pattern suggests his most likely role would again come against left-handed starters.
