Dodgers add lefty Wrobleski to NLCS roster, will carry 13 pitchers against Brewers

Los Angeles adds one arm to its NLDS pitching staff as the NL's two best regular-season teams meet in Milwaukee, MLB Trade Rumors reported on Oct. 11.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and Milwaukee Brewers, the National League's top two regular-season teams, set their rosters for the NL Championship Series. Game 1 was scheduled for the night of Oct. 11 in Milwaukee, according to MLB Trade Rumors.

Both clubs needed four games to win their Division Series. Milwaukee won 103 games in the regular season and beat San Diego. Los Angeles won 100 and got past Atlanta.

The Dodgers will carry 13 pitchers in this round, one more than they had in the NLDS. The new arm is left-hander Wrobleski. MLB Trade Rumors noted that he threw a career-high 140 innings with a 3.66 ERA, a 41.5% ground-ball rate and a 5.4% walk rate, and that a strong first half made him an All-Star.

His season tailed off after that. From July 21 on, Wrobleski had a 6.13 ERA, and he allowed 11 home runs over four starts between July 28 and Aug. 15. He then spent two weeks on the injured list with left forearm inflammation. After that, the Dodgers used him more and more in relief, and the publisher said he looked more settled there. He's expected to pitch out of the bullpen in this series.

To make room for Wrobleski, the Dodgers dropped a bench player who had been a somewhat unexpected pick for the NLDS roster. That player appeared only once in the Division Series, as a late defensive replacement in Game 4. MLB Trade Rumors said that was partly because Rojas wasn't available off the bench after leaving Game 3 early with a back injury.
