Rams Prepare for Eagles in Week 4 With Familiar Faces on the Opposing Sideline

Sean McVay, Matthew Stafford and Davante Adams addressed the Week 4 trip to Philadelphia, including McVay's history with Eagles offensive coordinator Sean Mannion.

The Los Angeles Rams will face the Eagles in Philadelphia for the second straight season in an early-season game, according to TheRams.com. The Rams fell just short against Philadelphia last year and also against the Broncos last week, and Week 4 gives them a chance to answer both of those losses.

TheRams.com reports that head coach Sean McVay spoke about the familiarity of seeing a former player across the field. Quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Davante Adams also shared their views on the Eagles and on areas where the Rams can improve after last week.

The connection is Sean Mannion, now the Eagles offensive coordinator. Per TheRams.com, the Rams drafted Mannion in 2015, and McVay coached him in 2017 and 2018. McVay described him as smart, conscientious and eager to learn, with humility and curiosity, and said he had a good feel as a player.

Mannion's path since then runs through Green Bay. TheRams.com notes he worked under Packers head coach and former Rams offensive coordinator Matt LaFleur, first as an offensive assistant in 2024 and then as quarterbacks coach in 2025, before taking the Eagles job this offseason.

McVay said he had heard good things about Mannion's work for LaFleur, whom he called one of his closest friends. He added that it is nice to see Mannion in a big opportunity. The report notes McVay is entering his 10th season with the Rams.

Stafford said he has a lot of respect for the Eagles, both for how they are coached schematically and for the players they have. He expects them to be ready when the Rams show up, as he said they usually are.
