Mike McCarthy regrets profane exchange with Aaron Rodgers caught on 'Thursday Night Football'

The Steelers coach and quarterback used expletives toward each other during a nationally televised loss to Cleveland. Rodgers pointed to crowd noise, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike McCarthy says he regrets the language he used in a heated sideline exchange with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the Los Angeles Times reported on Oct. 2, 2026.

Cameras caught the two men using expletives about or toward each other during the Steelers' nationally televised loss to Cleveland. The Times reported that the cameras and/or microphones on Prime Video's "Thursday Night Football" broadcast picked up the NSFW language from both of them.

Rodgers said heavy crowd noise made communication on the sideline difficult. According to the Times, that problem appeared to be behind his frustration.

McCarthy and Rodgers spent years together in Green Bay as coach and quarterback. They reunited in Pittsburgh this year, in what Rodgers has said will be his final season.
