Kings Fall 4-1 to Oilers, Slip to 0-3-2 to Start 2026-27

Edmonton built a 3-0 lead in the first period on Tuesday at Crypto.com Arena, and Brandt Clarke's second-period goal was the only one for Los Angeles.

The Los Angeles Kings are still looking for their first win of the 2026-27 season. They lost 4-1 to the Edmonton Oilers on Tuesday evening at Crypto.com Arena and now sit at 0-3-2, according to NHL.com's game recap.

Edmonton scored first midway through the opening period. NHL.com reports the Oilers' top line capitalized after a Kings stick was dropped in the Los Angeles zone. Connor McDavid worked around the outside, cut toward the net and passed to Leon Draisaitl, who scored his fourth goal of the season.

The lead doubled on a power play after a tripping penalty on Drew Doughty. McDavid skated down the left wing past defenseman Mikey Anderson, and goaltender Darcy Kuemper kicked his shot aside. The rebound went to Vasily Podkolzin in the slot, and he scored his sixth goal of the season.

NHL.com notes the Kings had their best shift of the period without scoring, and Edmonton made them pay at the other end. Ty Emberson sent the puck high out of the Oilers' zone as McDavid came off the bench. McDavid gathered it, went in alone and slid a backhand finish around Kuemper for a 3-0 lead and his third point of the period.

Los Angeles changed goaltenders after the first period, with Anton Forsberg replacing Kuemper. Late in the second period, defenseman Brandt Clarke scored his first goal of the season. His shot from the center point deflected off the arm of Oilers goaltender Devon Levi and in, which cut the deficit to 3-1.

Edmonton added an empty-net goal with just over two minutes remaining to seal the 4-1 final, per NHL.com.
