Winless Chargers Look for First Victory Against Broncos in Week 5

Daiyan Henley and Mike McDaniel say the team feels urgency as the 0-4 Chargers prepare for an AFC West game against the 2-2 Denver Broncos.

The Los Angeles Chargers are still chasing their first win of the season as they get ready to face the Denver Broncos in an AFC West game in Week 5. That's according to a Chargers.com preview posted on Oct. 9.

Going into Sunday's game, Chargers.com listed the Chargers at 0-4. Denver had a 2-2 record at that point. Division games carry extra weight on any schedule, and the team hopes a win over the Broncos could be a springboard for the rest of the season.

Linebacker Daiyan Henley told Chargers.com that the team's top priority is getting into the win column. "The No. 1 thing for us going into this week is we're hunting, fighting for our first win," Henley said. He described the approach as "a one-week season right now."

Offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel also spoke about the pressure of the slow start. "The urgency is ever present when you've gone a month without winning," he said.

According to Chargers.com, players in the locker room talked about needing to start a win streak to make up for the four straight losses that opened the season. The first step is getting one win.
