Chargers Fall to 0-5 Despite Third-Quarter Surge Against Broncos

Los Angeles erased a halftime deficit and briefly led its AFC West rival at SoFi Stadium on Sunday. It still lost for the fifth straight time to open the season.

The Los Angeles Chargers are still looking for their first win of the season. Chargers.com reports that the team has lost all five of its games so far, after falling Sunday to the Denver Broncos at SoFi Stadium.

Safety Tony Jefferson said the loss stung more because it came against a division opponent. "We wanted to get a win, especially against a division opponent, regardless or how it comes," he said, according to Chargers.com. "We really wanted that one."

The Chargers trailed their AFC West rival 10-3 at halftime. Then they took control of the third quarter, and Justin Herbert led a 73-yard touchdown drive that tied the game.

Denver's next possession ended in a turnover. Tuli Tuipulotu forced a Broncos fumble and recovered it himself. On the very next snap, Kimani Vidal ran 42 yards, and the Chargers led 17-10.

Chargers.com built its takeaways from the game around Jim Harbaugh taking accountability for the 0-5 start.
