The San Diego Padres have activated Walker Buehler onto their National League Division Series roster, MLB Trade Rumors reported on Oct. 5, 2026. To make room, the club removed a player who had been active as a replacement for the first two games of the series. MLB Trade Rumors' report does not name that player.
Both games against the Brewers were played in Milwaukee, and both were losses for San Diego. In Game 1, Ray didn't make it out of the third inning, and the Padres lost 3-2. In Game 2, King gave them more than five strong innings, but San Diego lost again.
With both games this close, the Padres used only their top relievers, including Miller. Vásquez was on the roster as a long man and didn't pitch. According to MLB Trade Rumors, he will miss the rest of the series unless someone on the pitching staff gets hurt.
MLB Trade Rumors said it's still unclear whether Buehler will play a role. San Diego hopes Game 3 is the first of three straight wins in elimination games. Both clubs have named Game 3 starters, but those names are cut off in the text we have. Neither team has said what it plans to do for a possible Game 4.
