LAFC Recaps September Community Work, From a New Futsal Court to Wildfire Recovery

The club's Force For Good monthly roundup covers a school futsal court opening, a Special Olympics banquet, a CHIRLA award, a Hispanic Heritage Month outing and Habitat for Humanity volunteering.

LAFC has released its Force For Good monthly recap of community work from September 2026. In the roundup, published on LAFC.com, the club highlighted several events across Los Angeles, including a Hispanic Heritage Month outing and the opening of a new futsal court.

Working with Metro by T-Mobile, LAFC and Westbrook Academy opened a new futsal court as the school year began. According to LAFC.com, the event included a ribbon cutting and a 5v5 tournament. Denis Bouanga and Carlos Vela also attended and helped give students custom backpacks and school supplies.

At BMO Stadium, the Special Olympics Unified Team held a banquet to close out its 2026 season. Team members looked back on the year and received awards, and the club said it is looking ahead to 2027. Also at BMO Stadium, the Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights (CHIRLA) recognized LAFC, and Vela accepted the Leadership in Action Award for the club.

For Hispanic Heritage Month, LAFC brought roughly 25 students from the nonprofit Athletes in the Making to a cultural center the club's post identifies as @laPlaza. There they saw a new exhibition of multimedia artwork by middle and high school students, who told stories inspired by their communities across Southern California.

LAFC staff also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity in the Pacific Palisades through its LA Rebuild campaign. LAFC.com said the volunteers helped with ongoing recovery work and the rebuilding of homes and communities affected by last year's wildfires.
