LAFC Falls 1-0 at FC Dallas After Armindo Sieb Equalizer Is Waved Off

Osaze Urhoghide's first-half header held up at Toyota Stadium on Saturday night, Sept. 26, after a video review took away a second-half LAFC goal.

LAFC lost 1-0 to FC Dallas on Saturday night, Sept. 26, at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas. A first-half header from Osaze Urhoghide was the only goal, and LAFC had a second-half equalizer taken away, according to the club's recap on LAFC.com.

Neither team scored for most of a tight first half. Dallas broke through in the 34th minute when Joaquín Valiente sent a corner into the middle of the LAFC box and Urhoghide headed it in.

LAFC goalkeeper Hugo Lloris made several key saves to keep his team in it while the Black & Gold worked their way into the match in attack.

In the 73rd minute, LAFC forward Armindo Sieb put the ball in the net, but the goal didn't count. Referee Sergii Boiko ruled that Sieb had interfered with Dallas goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois in the buildup, after advice from video assistant referee Younes Marrakchi. LAFC.com called the decision controversial. Late in regulation, Sirois also stopped a bicycle kick from Sergi Palencia to secure the win for Dallas.

The loss leaves LAFC at 11W-9L-8D with 41 points in MLS play and 17-10-12 across all competitions, per LAFC.com. That includes a 5-1-2 run in the Concacaf Champions Cup and a 1-0-2 mark in Leagues Cup.

After a bye week, LAFC hosts the Vancouver Whitecaps at BMO Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 10, for Noche LÁFC. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT, and the game will stream on Apple TV.
