Kings visit Vegas with Zuccarello and Turcotte out and Byfield expected back

Los Angeles plays a one-game road trip in Las Vegas on Oct. 10. Its penalty kill faces a Golden Knights power play that gave the Kings trouble last season.

The Los Angeles Kings are in Las Vegas for a one-game road trip against the Golden Knights on Oct. 10, according to NHL.com's game preview. Last season the Kings went 1-1 at T-Mobile Arena. One of those games was a 6-5 win over Vegas in October 2025.

Two Kings forwards will miss the game. NHL.com reports that Mats Zuccarello (week-to-week) and Alex Turcotte (day-to-day) did not practice Friday and were placed on injured reserve Saturday morning. Quinton Byfield missed Thursday's skate but practiced Friday and is expected to play.

Alex Laferriere and Erik Haula are the only Kings with a point in each of the team's first three games. With Zuccarello and Kevin Fiala out of the lineup, both are expected to skate on a line with Trevor Moore. Last season, Moore and Laferriere worked well together with Byfield at center.

The Kings also recalled forward Jared Wright from the AHL's Ontario Reign, and he signed a two-year contract extension Saturday morning. Wright played 23 regular-season games for Los Angeles last season. He has two goals and three points in two AHL games this season, including the overtime winner in the Reign's opener against Coachella Valley.

Special teams could decide this one. The Kings' penalty kill went 6-for-6 in Tuesday's loss to Florida. Vegas ranked sixth in the NHL on the power play last season at 24.6 percent, and it scored five power-play goals in four games against Los Angeles, a 41.7 percent success rate.

Both teams have players who did well in this matchup last season. Clarke scored in three of his four games against Vegas, including two game-tying goals. One was a third-period goal in last October's 6-5 win at T-Mobile Arena. For the Golden Knights, Eichel leads the NHL with 9 assists and 12 points so far in 2026-27. He had seven assists and nine points in three games against the Kings last season.
