LA Galaxy Return From Break at St. Louis CITY SC, Still Looking for First Win in the Series

The Galaxy visit Energizer Park on Sunday, Oct. 11, with six regular-season games left. João Klauss is set to face his former club for the first time since joining LA.

The LA Galaxy pick MLS play back up on Sunday, Oct. 11, with a road game against St. Louis CITY SC at Energizer Park after a two-week international break, according to a match preview from LAGalaxy.com. Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. PT on Apple TV's Sunday Night Soccer. With six regular-season games left, the Galaxy open a demanding stretch of three matches in seven days.

LA has never beaten St. Louis. Sunday's game will be the eighth all-time meeting between the clubs, and LAGalaxy.com lists the series at 0-3-4. In 2025, St. Louis won 3-0 in Missouri on March 9, and the teams then drew 3-3 at Dignity Health Sports Park on June 14. St. Louis also won 3-1 on July 26 this season, a game in which Troy Elgersma scored his first MLS goal for the Galaxy.

The match will also be João Klauss' first game against St. Louis since he joined the Galaxy in February. The Brazilian forward missed the July meeting with an injury. He played his first three MLS seasons in St. Louis, scoring 35 goals in 79 regular-season games. In Los Angeles, he has seven goals in 11 league games, including goals in back-to-back matches in September.

During the break, the Galaxy hosted Liga MX club Cruz Azul in a friendly and lost 2-1. The game got the team some useful minutes and marked the return of Designated Player Joseph Paintsil, a Ghanaian forward who scored in the second half.

Before the break, the Galaxy had their best month of the season in September, taking 10 points from five games. They won three, earned points in four and beat the New England Revolution 2-1. They also came from behind for back-to-back 3-2 wins over Minnesota United FC and the Colorado Rapids, and drew 1-1 with Seattle Sounders FC.

Defender Justin Haak made the MLS Team of the Matchday for his performance against Colorado, and Marco Reus got the same honor three times in September. Reus has five goal contributions (three goals, two assists) over his last four league games. He leads the team with 16 goal contributions this season: seven goals and nine assists.
